For much of Aeterna's history, Khaitali elves were the sole wielders of the arcane. It wasn't until Khaital's war with Creta, and humanity's subsequent discovery of their own potential for magic, that the elves found themselves without a proper defence against their own arts.

A number of Khaitali knights such as Koris subjected themselves to a grisly ritual, expelling the arcane energy from their bodies, forming the Order of Hexbane Paladins; anti-magic warriors to combat the Divine Empress' newest foes.
