Pomeline continued to trundle down the small scale streets, squeezing her wide frame between buildings on either side. Occasionally, she would side-swipe one or two, with Constantine metaphorically clamping his mouth shut each time, which didn’t go unnoticed by Pomeline.
This more buildings she brushed, though, the more curious she became. Finally, she decided to ask. ”What even goes on in these little bitty buildings anyway?" Pomeline asked, looking left and right at the skyscrapers around her.
Constantine found himself intrigued by such a question, and decided it couldn’t hurt to entertain her with an answer. ”Oh, well, a lot of things," Constantine said. “A lot of different services, businesses and whatnot.”
Pomeline smirked. “Oh, heh. No wonder they get so mad at me when I bump into them!”
Constantine grunted and rolled his eyes after hearing that, with Pomeline giggling knowingly.
"Hmmmm..." Pomeline thought for a moment, her curiosity peaking. She looked at a building next to her, then looked at the Compy sitting on her nose. Then, that curiosity morphed itself into an idea, a FUN idea, and of course, she loved fun.
For Constantine, the "hmmm" was enough of a signal for him to realize Pomeline was up to something. He looked back at Pomeline’s eyes. "... Pom?" he asked cautiously.
"I wanna take a closer look!" Pomeline said suddenly, immediately answered the question that she knew was coming.
"Uh..." Constantine stumbled, thinking for a moment. It was honestly the most simple and harmless idea Pomeline had all day... Maybe too simple? ... No, that can't be. What mischief could she possibly be up to just like looking through a building's window? “… Well, okay. Why not?”
“Yay!” Pomeline cheered. Of course, she would’ve done so with or without Constantine’s approval, but she was still happy to see the normally jumpy Compy approve at all… of course, she was intentionally being vague in regards to what she was actually doing.
Constantine had no reason to suspect anything in that moment… at least until he noticed Pomeline getting a bit too close to the window, followed by hearing a stray, softy giggle emanate from her muzzle, making him nervous. “Uh... Pom?"
"HMMM?" Pomeline glared at him suspiciously.
"... Never mind," Constantine hushed himself.
"Good!" Pomeline finished, then suddenly lunged forward, bumping the building with her snout. The sudden stop flung the Compy forward into the large, window, face-planting into it.
“Oomph!” Constantine went as he smacked into the glass. Before he could process anything, he felt Pomeline back away, her snout sliding from under his feet. Constantine was alarmed, but before he could start sliding down the window, he felt Pomeline’s snout suddenly press against his entire back.
BOOMPH!!
Constantine was pasted up against the window like a sticker, firmly pressed there by Pomeline’s huge snout, his cheek smooshed to the glass, his arms, legs, and tail spread out. He could do nothing, except awkwardly stare through the glass at the two other small scales inside the office, staring right back at him with blank, dumbfounded faces. 'Of course she was up to something...' Constantine thought. ‘When is she ever NOT up to something?’
Pomeline pretended not to notice what she was doing. ”See anything?" she asked casually.
Constantine rolled his eyes (the only body part he would really move in his predicament). "... Uh... well there's two guys in there..." he said, somewhat muffled.
"What are they doing? Can you tell?"
"... They're... staring at us..."
"Ooh? I'll give 'em something to stare at!"
"Wait wha- OMPH!"
Pomeline began rubbing her nose against the glass, dragging Constantine helplessly around against it, left and right, then in circles, all the while making silly faces, widening her eyes, flaring her nostrils, fogging the glass, and sticking out her tongue. Inside, the two small scales in the tiny office just stared blankly at this "show" which had completely derailed their meeting.
Constantine grunted and moaned incoherently in protest.
“HMMM?” Pomeline interrupted. Immediately Constantine silenced himself, remembering that even unintelligible moaning in protest counted against his side of the bet.
The mass of Pomeline’s face caused the glass to crack, alarming the two dinos inside, though Pomeline couldn’t hear them. Still, she stopped anyway, mostly because she didn’t want to shove Constantine through the glass completely and potentially give the latter a glass cut. ”Oops! Show's over I guess," she said, shrugging. She backed away, unsticking her nose from the glass like a suction cup. Constantine, though, was now pasted against the front of her nose like a tattoo, and quite dizzy.
Pomeline waved to the two office dinos before stomping away. Watching her lumber away, the two smaller dinos just stared at each other without a word.
Constantine spoke, giddy and out of breath. "Pom..." he said, panting. "You're... you're creatively silly..."
For Pomeline, this was a compliment, and she returned the favor. “And you make a good face tattoo!”
Constantine sighed, while Pomeline just honked. The honk was louder for Constantine since he was still on the front of her snout, and Pomeline’s nostrils were right behind him instead of under him. Of course, as much as she liked her tattoo, she still reached up and gently peeled Constantine from the front of her muzzle and set him back on top of it. Despite being dizzy, the Compy had to admit, it was somewhat amusing, even if he didn’t ask to be center stage for that one.
Here we see one of the many ways Pomeline can play a trick on Constantine.
Enjoy!
