Making first contact on an alien world is what the beings of the Federation do, no matter the potential hazards. And such a hazard has apparently befallen the Enterprise's Lt. M'Ress. Apparently she got too close to a predatory plant and now finds herself wrapped up by some very strong, constricting vines, with her phaser and communicator tantalizingly out of reach.
