Big Brother Turd (pg. 9) (OLD VERS.)
Here's the first time in this comic we see a character wearing a diaper- a character who isn't a baby, that is.
Parts of this comic put my drawing skills to the test. For the stairs, I tried to remember a stair-drawing method I learned in one of my drawing classes, not to mention incorporate it in a way Krita would allow (I couldn't draw a vanishing point, since Krita won't let me draw outside the canvas). I had to use guidelines to make a couple of the boxes and Stan's head in the last panel look right.
It's hard to draw a South Park comic and not come up with the stupidest, raunchiest names imaginable. Of course, "Condom Breaks" originated in my first Shelley diaper pic and has appeared in some of my other South Park pics. In the past, I've made the logo simply the words "Condom Breaks" with a picture of a broken condom next to it. Here, I thought I'd be a little more creative and spell out the letters with broken condoms in a pool of jizz. It took longer to draw. I also realized, while transferring a copy of the logo to the box, that if you warp markings too much, they become illegible. I ended up having to draw the logo over again.
Speaking of which, the text on the bottle was originally typed, but I had a hard time warping the text to fit the perspective, and I realized that if I shrunk the text too much, it became illegible. I ultimately ended up writing it by hand. By the way, the full text is, "All-glass bottle and fast-flow, vented silicone nipple; this bottle is a must-have for your collection". The bottle package is based on AB bottle packages I've seen, mostly in AB-related videos, you know, bottle reviews, trips to AB stores, all that jazz. I've also noticed that AB companies tend to make bottles after their various diapers, so I thought why not give Shelley a Condom Breaks bottle? Maybe it has a nipple shaped like a condom.
Shelley's line in the bottom leftmost panel is a reference to the episode Cash for Gold. Grandpa Marvin Marsh, who is old, has Alzheimer's, and calls Stan "Billy" says, "She's just a baby, after all", referring to Shelley, to which Stan replies, "She's not a baby, Grandpa. She's 13". Little did Grandpa know he wasn't completely wrong.
That's all I have to say. Stay tuned next week for another page of Demigod Daycare.
