Rae Braveheart, the Battle Master Fighter, is a wandering Half-Orc traveling the world in the hope of one day being seen as a true hero to honor his mentor and show the world that he is more than what his blood is.
---
Rae’s life began in the shadows of mystery. Left at an orphanage as a newborn, the circumstances of his birth remained a mystery. The matrons of the orphanage whispered rumors about his origins, speculating about things such as forbidden love or something worse that led to his birth. Despite their attempts to care for him, Rae’s orcish features made him a constant target for cruelty from the other children. He learned to fight not out of desire, but necessity, defending himself from their taunts and attacks.
The orphanage’s cold walls and harsher inhabitants became too much for Rae to bear by the time he reached adolescence. He ran away, driven by a desperate need to find a place where he could belong. His journey was arduous; he survived by scavenging for food and finding shelter wherever he could. After days of wandering, exhausted and starving, Rae encountered Angelo Braveheart, a wandering Paladin known for his valor and sense of justice.
Angelo, a seasoned fighter, with a mysterious past of his own, saw something in Rae that reminded him of his younger self. He offered Rae food, shelter, and most importantly, guidance. Over the years, Angelo taught Rae the art of combat and survival, but more crucially, he imparted lessons on honor, empathy, and the importance of fighting for a cause greater than oneself. Under Angelo’s tutelage, Rae transformed from a defensive brawler into a disciplined warrior.
Their bond grew deeper as they traveled together, helping those in need and righting wrongs wherever they went. Angelo often spoke of his own past battles and the mistakes he made, hoping Rae would learn from them. He also revealed to Rae his belief in the importance of redemption, a concept that resonated deeply with the young half-orc, who yearned for acceptance and purpose.
One fateful day, Rae and Angelo received word of a village under siege by a ruthless group of marauders. They hurried to the village’s defense, but the battle that ensued was more brutal than they had anticipated. Despite their valor, the village was ravaged, and Angelo was mortally wounded. Rae, though grievously injured himself, fought with a ferocity born of desperation and love for his mentor, eventually driving off the marauders.
As Angelo lay dying, he made Rae promise to continue their mission—to protect the innocent and stand against evil and oppression. With a heavy heart, Rae buried Angelo beneath near a flowering field underneath a large oak tree. He would give one final prayer to the fallen Paladin before beginning to continue on, alone once more...
