So...there will be an art piece for this shortly, but, while I'm very late to the party with Macro March, I decided that I wanted to have King Koopa join my canon and become Koopzilla permanently, unable to ever be shrunken down x3
For as long as I can remember, my favorite episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show has always been Mario Meets Koopzilla, the episode where King Koopa eats the Super Sushi and grows to be Koopzilla. And a lot of us know all too well that that episode attracted a lot of macro furs. So, enjoy this short little story I wrote.
(Also, at some point, I plan to introduce a new fursona with the current name of The Animator, a fursona and artist that has a sketchbook and tablet that basically controls whatever goes on in the lives of my fursonas. I want to try a new cartoon aesthetic for my canon/fictional world, and I figured it'd be a fun fursona to create >w<)

Shadow knocked on the front door of Mikey’s house. He wore a blue polo shirt and orange lounge shorts, his bear tail wagging. It was a nice, relaxing day in Chicago, and Shadow had decided to drop by Mikey’s house to hang out with him for a bit while Vex and Alan were both at school. Though on the way to Mikey’s house, Shadow stopped by a Goodwill store in the city and bought a VHS tape of his favorite episode of one of his favorite cartoons growing up - Mario Meets Koopzilla, an episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. Mikey answered the door, wearing his usual 90s tank top, blue jeans, and backwards Chicago Bulls cap.
“Aloha, Ohana!” Shadow greeted, holding the VHS tape in his hands, the tape kept safe in a vintage case.
“Hey, Shads.” Mikey greeted back. “Noticing you stopped by Goodwill on your way here?”
“Yeah. Kinda got this tape of that old Mario cartoon that I used to watch when I was a kid.” Shadow spoke. “Mario Meets Koopzilla! My favorite episode!”
“Isn’t that the episode where Bowser eats all that sushi and turns into a giant Godzilla?” Mikey asked.
“His name is actually King Koopa, and yeah, you’re spot on. Figured we could watch it?”
Mikey nodded and stepped aside to let Shadow inside the house.
“Yeah, sure. It’s my day off from running the arcade, so.. I ain’t got nothing going on today.” Mikey agreed.
Shadow entered the house and sat down on the couch, while Mikey set up the VCR player on the TV. He soon grabbed a couple of cans of Pepsi from the refrigerator before sitting down on the couch, while Shadow inserted the tape into the VCR.
“I love this episode. I wish King Koopa stayed big.” Shadow laughed as the episode played.
“Definitely. The size suits him.” Mikey chuckled warmly. “That, and that chubby gut he’s got.”
“Rampaging reptiles! It’s working!” King Koopa said in the episode as he grew bigger and bigger from eating the Super Sushi, the sushi that made him grow to the size of a kaiju.
Shadow and Mikey watched the episode with delight and nostalgia, from Mario growing after eating Super Sushi to Koopzilla getting shrunken back down with the Super Sushi Shrinker.
“As the old saying goes, “He who Koops and runs away lives to Koop another day!”” The normal sized King Koopa said in the episode as he summoned a Warp Zone on the ground. However, just as he was about to escape through the portal on the ground, something peculiar happened.
King Koopa suddenly looked at the camera curiously, almost like he was staring out the TV screen.
“What the hell? I don’t remember this happening.” Shadow said, confused.
“Yeah, is something wrong with the tape?” Mikey said.
“Crazy Kaijus! Looks like I can get out this way!” King Koopa suddenly said.
Just as Shadow got up to eject the tape, he and Mikey watched in awe as King Koopa began to jump out of the TV screen!
“Whatthehellishappening?!” Mikey frantically cried.
“I don’t know!” Shadow said as the Koopa King managed to squeeze himself out of the TV and into the real world.
“Mm..that’s better! It’s really cramped in there!” King Koopa sighed, stretching his arms. “Don’t suppose you fuzzballs have any extra Super Sushi here?”
Shadow’s jaw hung halfway open, and he looked at Mikey, as if to say, “Is this actually happening?”
“You’re…You’re King Koopa!” Shadow cried out, a mix of surprise and excitement.
“Ah, so guess I’m famous here!” King Koopa laughed.
“In a way, yes.” Mikey joked. “Except you’re yellow. And you have red spiky hair. Oh yeah, and your name is Bowser.”
“What?! I’m nothing like that!” King Koopa roared. “And I’m still waiting for an answer! You fuzzballs got any Super Sushi or not?”
“Geez, relax, dude.” Shadow spoke. “Sorry, but we don’t have Super Sushi here. I mean, I’m sure there’s some regular sushi in the fridge if you want that.”
“Aw, that’s pathetic! I wanna be big again!” King Koopa angrily demanded.
“How’d you even get out of the TV, anyway?” Shadow suddenly asked.
“Don’t ask me, you pudgy plushbear!” King Koopa answered. “But I’m not going back in there, that’s for sure!”
King Koopa suddenly marched into the kitchen, searching the refrigerator.
“What are you doing?!” Mikey asked. “Are you raiding my fridge?!”
“I said I’m looking for some Super Sushi, you grumbly grizzly!” King Koopa barked, suddenly pulling out a plastic container of sushi. He suddenly returned to the living room, tearing off the lid. Mikey and Shadow followed him, with Mikey angrily tapping his foot against the floor.
“Look, I don’t know how you got out of that tape or TV, but you’re going back in!” Mikey barked.
“Good luck putting me back in, fuzzball!” King Koopa remarked, preparing to eat the sushi from the container.
Mikey moved towards King Koopa and angrily shoved him against the TV, trying to send him back into the tape.
“You..can’t..stay here..!” Mikey grunted.
“I’m staying here, and there’s nothing you can do about it!” King Koopa growled.
Mikey suddenly charged into King Koopa, causing him to drop the container of sushi, which fell into the TV, much like how King Koopa came out of it.
“Um…whoops.” Mikey nervously said.
King Koopa glared at Mikey, balling his green scaly claws into fists.
“Big mistake, fuzzball! Now you’re gonna..” King Koopa angrily snarled before another peculiar event occurred.
Out of the TV fell a bowl of Super Sushi.
“Super Sushi? Alright!” King Koopa laughed.
“What is going on with that tape?” Shadow said, confused.
King Koopa laughed and swiped the bowl off the floor.
“I’m gonna be Koopzilla FOREVER!!” He laughed as he devoured the Super Sushi.
“Wait-!” Mikey protested, but it was too late.
“Too late, fuzzball!” King Koopa laughed as he grew larger and taller, nearly towering over Mikey. His belly rapidly expanded into a chubby and round gut, and his size increased bigger and bigger until…
SMASH!!!
King Koopa - now Koopzilla - broke through the ceiling, letting out a laugh of pride and happiness.
“I’m Koopzilla again! Koopzilla can’t be defeated!” Koopzilla roared, crushing a car with his humongous, scaly foot.
“Dude…this is…awesome.” Shadow said with a bit of excitement in his voice.
“Awesome?! He just destroyed my ceiling!” Mikey angrily shouted. “It’ll take months to get the money to get that replaced!”
“I know, Mikey. But..what if he could be like a friend to us?” Shadow suggested.
Mikey watched as the TV spat out a syringe of Super Sushi Shrinker.
“Good luck with that, but he’s going back in the TV!” Mikey growled, picking up the syringe. He charged towards Koopzilla, injecting him in his humongous leg with the shrinker. Koopzilla winced in pain as he felt the syringe.
“OW! No! I don’t wanna be small again! I wanna be big!” Koopzilla pleaded. He braced himself as he knew he was about to shrink.
…But he never did.
Koopzilla looked around, still noticing he was still the size of Godzilla. He let out a mighty laugh and slapped his fat gut.
“Hahaha! Not even the shrinker works on me anymore! Nice try, fuzzball!” Koopzilla laughed as he suddenly stepped on Mikey, flattening him like a pancake.
“Mikey!” Shadow said as he helped Mikey up.
“Why didn’t that work?! He’s supposed to shrink!” Mikey groaned as he watched Koopzilla stomp towards the city.
“Maybe…this is the size that he’s meant to be?” Shadow pondered.
“Whatever the case, we need to stop him! He’s heading towards the city! He could hurt someone!” Mikey cried.
Shadow and Mikey hurried towards the city after Koopzilla. As they hurried, people around them panicked and ran away while police officers opened fire on the giant kaiju, their bullets having no effect on him.
“RAWR!!! NOBODY CAN STOP ME!” Koopzilla laughed as he crushed cars with his feet and tore buildings apart with his claws.
“Koopzilla, stop!” Shadow cried towards him. “Please!”
Koopzilla looked down at Shadow and smirked.
“What are you gonna do about it, fuzzball? I’m bigger than you!” He chuckled, suddenly swiping Shadow off the ground. Shadow tried to break free, but Koopzilla’s grip was too strong.
“It doesn’t have to be this way! You can..you could be a nice kaiju!” Shadow went on. “You’ve always been one of my favorite characters!”
Koopzilla smiled slightly and chuckled.
“Heh, nice to hear, fuzzball. But there’s no way I’m going nice. I can do whatever I want at this size!” He laughed.
“OPEN FIRE!” Shadow suddenly heard a military soldier yell. He watched as a tank fired a missile at Koopzilla, hitting him in the face.
“AGH!” Koopzilla roared, dropping Shadow. Shadow yelped as he fell to the ground. He weakly looked up as military soldiers and tanks moved towards Koopzilla.
“No! Don’t hurt him! Please!” Shadow begged. “He’s my friend!”
Koopzilla looked down at Shadow, feeling something strange in his heart. He…was his friend?
“Out of the way, sir.” A soldier ordered.
“No! I won’t!” Shadow yelled. “I won’t let you hurt him!”
One of the soldiers suddenly spoke through an ear piece.
“Orders, sir? Are you…yes sir. Understood.” He said.
Shadow watched in fear as the soldiers aimed their guns at Shadow, the tanks aiming at him as well.
“What are you..?!” Shadow asked. “No, please! I have a son!”
“OPEN FIRE!” A soldier ordered.
“NO!!” Koopzilla roared, grabbing Shadow quickly before the tanks and soldiers opened fire. He angrily crushed the tanks and rushed through the city and towards a beach nearby.
Koopzilla sat down on the sand, Shadow placed on his belly.
“Fuzzball..no…Shadow. Did you mean it back there?” Koopzilla asked. “Am I..your friend?”
Shadow looked up at Koopzilla before nodding.
“Yes, I did.” He said. “I don’t know why you came here, but..maybe this is where you’re meant to be. And maybe this is the size you’re meant to be.”
Koopzilla laughed as he suddenly laid back, placing his arms behind his head.
“Ha! This size definitely suits me.” He chuckled. “But..Shadow?”
“Yeah, Koopzilla?” Shadow asked.
“I’m gonna be nice from now on.” He said. “I’m not gonna hurt anyone here. Not even you.”
“Really?” Shadow asked.
“Yeah. I’ve never had a friend before.. well..you and your grizzly buddy seem like cool guys. I could hang out with you guys for a while.”
Koopzilla looked on at the setting sun descending upon the beach.
“And Shadow..if you ever need me, just call.” Koopzilla said.
Shadow rested on Koopzilla’s soft, pudgy belly. He hugged it a bit, causing Koopzilla to gently pat him with his large claw. Soon, he gently picked Shadow up and placed him on the sand.
“Where are you going to go?” Shadow asked as Koopzilla walked towards the ocean, his feet making loud thuds.
“Guess I’ll find a nice island to live on, haha!” Koopzilla laughed. He smiled and gave a wave towards Shadow before entering the ocean and swimming off.
Mikey suddenly walked up to Shadow.
“Well, I didn’t believe it. You actually turned the kaiju good.” He chuckled.
“Yeah. Heh..sorry about your ceiling and everything.” Shadow giggled.
“Eh, no worries about it. I’m sure I’ll be able to fix it.” Mikey said back. “So..you think we’ll see Koopzilla again?”
“No doubt about it.” Shadow answered. “I just hope the military doesn’t attack him again.”
“They won’t.” Mikey assured him. “They kinda listened in on your conversation with him and called off the assault on him. Guess they don’t see him as a threat now, with him being a good guy and all.”
Shadow sighed happily. “Well that’s good to hear.”
“Still don’t know how he got out of the tape though.” Mikey wondered.
“Cartoon logic?” Shadow joked.
THE END….OR IS IT?
A giant gorilla finished the last of the sketches in his sketchbook. He wore a blue Hawaiian shirt and orange tiger stripe design shorts. He sat at his desk in what looked like an animation studio, with art sketches of Shadow, Mikey, and Giratina taped to one of the walls, alongside Mikey’s alternate form, such as his gorilla form and lion form. He looked down at the comic he had just finished - Shadow Meets Koopzilla!.
“Now that’s what I call a happy ending!” The Animator chuckled, before turning to another page containing a sketch of Koopzilla. He tore the page from the sketchbook and taped it to the wall.
“The family just keeps on growing.” The Animator sighed as he shut his sketchbook. He then looked over at an animation table nearby. “Eh, I’ll animate it tomorrow.” He stood up and left the studio, turning the light to the room off on his way out.
