Mountains are too green! Need more desert and bad quality, brown air! ( at least, for my part of So Cal )

Nah, I seem to remember Riverside County being brown 30 years ago when I lived here the first time, as well.

Besides, I was poking fun at my region ( county in paricular ), not Meg's pic. I think her pic is totally cute and captures a cheerful outlook on So Cal life

I was born in Riverside County in 79. The air wasn't too brown if you had a mountain or two between you and LA and San Bernardino. Everything below the horizon was definitely brown once you got 5 feet from a water source.

Born there in 81, directly in Riverside.

Unfortunately, most of the orange orchards are gone now and so much of the neighborhoods are shadows of what I remember them to be. In Murrieta now. It's amazing how those areas like Temecula has sprung up.

Hemet is my birthplace. I used to go out to the orange groves in the hills and there were a few fields to go romp around. It was largely paved over 20 years ago.

Temecula. Ugh. More sprawl with no end in sight. "Come to opportunity. Bring your own water because we have none for you. Oh yeah, and don't expect to find work here. You can drive 2 hours for that. This is California after all."

Yup! It's still in use on the Yahoo group, though Facebook itself has made the Yahoo Group kind of obsolete. It's still in use though!
