This character has been referred to before, but I felt I couldn't proceed further without bringing him into formal existence.

Jeremy Orion McIlroy (just Jeremy will do, or Jer if you know what you're doing) is Sully's river otter boyfriend. We haven't "seen" him yet because Sully spends an awful lot of hours at Burrow Prime these days—a fact that Jeremy is well aware of and none too pleased about.

Sully has told Jeremy about Emmet... at least the parts meant for public consumption. Jeremy doesn't believe it (what intelligent otter would?). And if his ferret doesn't get his act together and start pulling his weight in this relationship soon, he might just have to head over there and do some digging of his own.

When he feels like it. He has action figures that need sorting.

Jeremy, like Sully, is energetic and inquisitive. Out of the two of them he probably would have made the better scientist. It runs in his blood—his father Gregory is an astrophysicist (his middle name does come from the constellation).

But Jeremy for some reason hasn’t followed in his father’s footsteps. He currently has a job doing road construction, and doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to achieve "great" things. He has his whole life ahead of him, so there’s no rush.

Jeremy’s easygoing nature when it comes to the big things in life contrasts with his obsessiveness and acquisitiveness with small things, in particular anything that intersects with his hobbies. Ask his comic book or miniature figure collections.

Actually, “asking” them would go a long way towards explaining the sort of person Jeremy is: envious of no one but jealous of everything that falls into his domain, boyfriends included.

It’s not actually that Jeremy thinks that Sully belongs to him. It’s just that his world is both small and fortified, and he is ever watchful for those who might threaten its frontiers, whether or not they be wombat-shaped.

(He does have a telescope. Yes, his dad did buy it for his birthday, and he knows how to use it. Jeremy's also the one who taught Sully how to fish.)
