That depends largely on the computer sometimes. I've had windows computers that couldn't even boot up IE or run it without being incredibly slow.

Other times it's just moderately slow.

Firefox is large, but it is usually very quick, and at the very least I don't have to deal with google ads.

every browser does that. it has nothing to do with being Chrome IE or Firefox. Usually it is because it doesn't read the css style sheet properly of the page or it got corrupted on the temps folder. also it could be the site having an update but you have a cached version older. the way i solve it is basically F5 until it works cleaning the history and cache. usually that works most of the times.

I remember having a similar problem with IE many years ago, then I switched to Firefox. Though, I'm not suggesting you do that.
