That was a part of the problem with this image. I detailed the face WAY too early. I always tend to do that with dragons for some reason and then having to try to get the rest of the image to "catch up" with the face just makes it aggravating... :/

Yeah ... you focus way to much in one spot before balancing outt he rest of the image
but at least you know what the issue is, you just gotta catch yourself and not do it

It has been a while since I have drawn any feral dragons like this, so I forgot about that bad habit! :O

This is just fantastic! Your scale detail is incredible, even close up! So fun to look at :)

It's literally a bunch of random lines and blobs. There was not any "technique" really, lol. :P

Sometimes I wonder why I am still here on these gallery sites since most of the art is so terrible, and then someone like you comes and posts something like this picture and after a minute of astonishment, I realize why I'm here.

Wow! The neck, the head and the belly are just incredible! Doesn't look like you messed up anything. Just sounds like you ran out of steam for the details. Really beautiful texturing! Even for someone out of practice. I really like it.

Since everyone is wondering, I will just say it.

1) Because me and her arranged a deal, I ended up putting more work into it than paid (like... way over :P ). The time put into it was getting way more than paid, so I got the problem of trying to find a good spot to finish (which I do not think I stopped at a good spot being there is still much unfinished in this painting).

2) The lighting and shadows are quite off. I needed much more time to push the values more to make them more correct. I am a stickler on this ESPECIALLY within my own art.

In the end, it boils down to a "time is money" type of thing... :/

You know, I can't help but think this fellow is in a church, high above the patrons. The background/colours is setting that stage for me.
