In the episode "Now One Comes to Lupusville", the guys get caught in the middle of a feud between a group of vampires that want to live in houses and herd people like cattle, and another group that wants to stick to the old ways of creeping around graveyards snacking on the occasional passer-by. Turns out the citified bloodsuckers stole the town from a bunch of werewolves who'd founded it as a safe haven, and when the 'busters let them loose during a full moon there is hell to pay.
Egon: Think about it, Peter. When a vampire bites someone, he becomes a vampire, right?
Peter: Right . . .
Ray: And when a werewolf bites someone, he becomes a werewolf, too!
Egon: Precisely. So, what happens when a werewolf bites a vampire, and a vampire bites a werewolf?
Winston: Man, talk about democracy in action.
Peter: I'm hip. But guys, don't you want to stay around and see who wins?
Everyone else: NO.
So I had an idea for a sequel where the vampires and werewolves are hybridized into a completely new critter . . . way before Underworld, thank you very much. It's pretty much your basic werewolf with bat wings, and I tried to give the face features based on a vampire bat for some variety. Had a lot of fun with the lighting in this one. It's been sitting on my computer FOREVER, I did the original sketch about a year ago. It's changed substantially since then, with the progress shown on my LJ. I know I kind of suck at wings but this is about as good as it'll get, so here it is.

excellent work. the lighting is very nice - adds to the look of the image. nice overall form and face as well. i wonder if the wings could benefit from a little tinkering with darkness, brightness and more transparency in places to perhaps better fit with the background etc? but that's just me being picky - they seem like a very tricky thing, and you've done a nice job.
I am again and again amazed at the realism you render these out with in terms of colour and texture and whatnot. I enjoy the purple-orange theme and especially it pops with some of those blues too, keeps it crisp. Also a vampire bat winged werewolf is way cooler than anything that came up when I googled vampire werewolf hybrid. Sometimes it's good to go back to the monster's animal source for inspiration, huh?
