Alyx took a defensive stance, ready to strike if needed. Her open backpack hung from her shoulder.
— Look who we have here. What’s such a cute girl doing on the roof? — In his human form, the demon looked just like any average, slightly chubby office worker.
Alyx merely bared her teeth.
— Two snacks at once? I’m one lucky guy, — As he drew closer, he started shifting into his demonic form, changing his vessel for the attack.
His silhouette became angular. With a disturbing crack of bones, he stretched and grew several times bigger than a normal human. His head expanded, eyes shrank, and his mouth, now filled with rows of sharp teeth, took up nearly all the available space in his skull.
The insatiable creature grew more pairs of limbs resembling pincers. Firmly planted on four of them, it could pierce its victim with the two front ones. Along its entire back, small spines sprouted, offering protection from behind. A long tail, a continuation of its body, balanced out its new limbs and extended neck, allowing it to make attacks with a turn, stunning its opponent.
All of this happened in an instant.
Leo, inside Alyx, was in shock from what he saw, but the confidence of his companion was contagious. He sincerely hoped she knew what she was doing.
— You're one ugly motherfucker!, — she taunted.
The demon let out a roar and charged toward her, trying to strike with one of its pincers. But she deftly jumped to the side. With an angry roar, it tried to bite her with its massive jaws, aiming where she had just stood.
Alyx was too fast for the cumbersome monster. While the demon shook its head, trying to catch her mid-air where she had been, Alyx, in a jump, spun around and struck with the heavy tip of her tail at one of its four pincers it was standing on. The demon staggered for a moment, not expecting such strength from the seemingly fragile girl. That gave her the chance to do the same to the pincer on the opposite side.
She then circled behind it, climbed up its back, and, with a powerful push of her paws, leapt to a height several times greater than her own size. Using the energy from her fall, she wrapped her tail around the neck of the monster, who was too slow to react, and threw it over herself, slamming it onto the roof. The impact momentarily stunned the demon, taking it out of the fight.
In a swift motion, Alyx grabbed the spray can from her backpack and began drawing symbols and circles on the roof’s surface.
As before, the symbols immediately began to glow. When the monster regained its senses and tried to get up, it was already trapped in the spell and couldn’t escape its perimeter.
She only needed to draw a couple more symbols to finish the work.
The demon roared in fury, tilting its head toward the sky, and began to panic, trying to inflict any kind of damage on Alyx, but the barrier wouldn’t allow it.
— Say hello to your people, — Alyx smirked and, with a satisfied gesture, added the final symbol.
The entire circle began to glow. The demon screamed in desperation and pain. The light intensified, swallowing everything inside. The golden light from the symbols mixed with the dark blood-red hue within the circle, as if consuming all the light within it. With a deafening sound, the monster, just like before in the hospital, started to disintegrate, transforming into a dark cloud that was drawn into the center of the circle.
Finally, everything went silent, the light and even the symbols Alyx had drawn vanished. In the center of the circle lay an unconscious, naked man. The former host of the demon.
Alyx gave a satisfied hum as she looked at the result of her work. And within a moment, there were two of them on the roof again.
