Here's a photo of the biggest species of grasshoppers you can find in the Netherlands, called Wart-Biter (Decticus verrucivorus).
Their name comes from the age-old practice of using these grasshoppers to bite warts as a way of treating the warts.
The reason I know this one is a female, is because of another photo I have of the same one, from the side. On that one, the ovipositor tube is clearly visible, and only females have those (duh).
This photo makes me laugh a bit, as she's staring straight into the lens.
