These are a staple of my homestate of Maine

Pies

1 2/3 cups of flour
2/3 cups of cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt
1 large egg
1 stick of butter
1 1/4 cup of milk
1 cup of dark brown sugar

Preheat your oven to 375F

Sift cocoa, flour, baking soda, and salt into a small mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, mix butter and brown sugar together, then add the egg and vanilla until well blended. Add only half of your flour mixture and then slowly pour your milk once it's well mixed, add the rest in of your flour and milk. My pies took about 12 minutes to bake but your oven might be different. Use the toothpick method to determine if the pies are done and allow them to cool before adding the filling.

Filling

1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 c. confectioners’ sugar
1 c. Marshmallow Fluff
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix all in one bowl, and if your pies are cool down place one small or medium scoop of your filling on your pies.

TipI added a teaspoon of grounded coffee to my whoopie pies it really helps the chocolate its flavor.
