Spaceship idea [scribbles by me]
Prototyping some spaceship design. Compact, reasonably modular.
The idea behind this abomination is something compact but practical for a small team or single pilot to fly and maintain.
Manufacturer of this ship-design wanted something compact, cheap to run and detachable cargo-bays.
-Detachable cargobays
The idea behind these are modularity and versatility.
Each of this ships bay, or pod can be swapped out, either in space or docked in a station. The pods can be nearly anything, be it more fuel, pure cargo or house passengers. Sometime gun platforms. Some designs have heavily modified pods to be their own small ships for scanning drones or planetary landers.
Popular outfit is Search and Rescue, outfitted with powerful scanners and large medical bays.
Internal height of one detachable bay is about 5.5 meters(standard 2 stories house tall if one room is 2,5ish meters) and 5x5 meters squared.
Might make a version with larger bays, it seems a bit small by now.
-Basic design.
Reasonably narrow and long. Simple exposed cockpit, directly behind cockpit are two rooms, either maintenance or captains quarter. Five standard small units of detachable cargo bays. Rearmost bay is main engine and power unit and hyperspace core. Also housing the six main thrusters, making this ship deceivingly fast.
Hydrogen tanks, along with Water and other liquids and purifiers are under the main corridor, beside the maintenance tunnel going through the ship.
-Defenses.
--Standard civilian class armor, handles small collisions and smaller guns, does not hold up to large guns.
--Shield generators on standard ships are higher end civilian class, protects from mid-sized direct fire, deflector shield can be amplified in certain directions when escaping enemy fire.
--Guns. Four Point Defence small turrets above and below the ship, retracts into the hull when not in use, used against missiles and mines.
-Two Medium sized turret ports just behind and above the cockpit, can be either Laser, Plasma or Projectile.
-Two Large sized turret ports at rear engine room, either Laser, Plasma or Projectile turrets.
-Any of the detachable cargobays can be swapped for a Turret platform or a Missile launcher, as long as the powerplant can handle the power requirements.
-Often three to four smaller Medium turrets below the ship in standard orientation.
Roe Seong ship modifications.
-Stronger core.
--Hardened superstructure, everything on the ship is bolted on an internal skeleton holding it all together, as its stronger it can handle the modified engines making it faster and more agile, also handles bigger guns.
--Armour along the ship is more denser and harder, not much thicker, excluding the detachable cargo bays as they have standard armor.
--Experimental Cyclone Shields, instead of absorbing an impact it redirects projectiles around the ship. absorbs part of laser gun energy to increase its own strength temporarily. Fortress Mode makes it near impenetrable, with the drawback of High powerdraw, increased heat generation, cannot use its thrusters or guns.
--Modified powerplant and thrusters. Up to 2x power output from the rear thrusters, maneuvering thrusters are improved by 1.5. Hyperspace core, which allows the ship to jump into hyperspace is slightly larger, making it faster. Main powerplant is 2.5 times more powerful.
--Rudimentary stealth system, by modifying the shield emitter signatures, you can temporarily hide from scanners, high powerdraw and doesn't work against narrow beam scanners, meaning detailed scans of where the ship is will detect it, but broad beam as a large scale general scans does not spot the ship.
--A single railgun almost as long as the ship, exit port just below the cockpit, launches a shaped projectile only a few kilograms heavy, but at a very high speed.
Downsides are that the ship runs hot, has improved cooling technology, but still needs time to cool down.
