Selbstporträt als Fischmensch
Recently there had been a reboot of the One Piece Fishmen Island arc on Crunchyroll. I guess this was doen for the reason to give the animators more time to draw the animations for the egg head arc. I was surprised at first, but it was quite interesting to rewatch this season of the anime.
The original sketch for this self portrait was rather old, I think about 7 or 8 years by now. Recently I had it inked and gave it colours for to have something to post.
The character, if I remember right, was meant to be a part of the sun pirates under Fisher Tiger, rescued from a fate as a slave of the Tenryubito. There he was mistreated and forced to hard labor and long sessions of being bound exposed in his master´s courtyard, to be gawked at by visitors and passerbys. He developed a quirk to feel anxious, if he is not tied up or at least feels shackles on his wrists, even as he got back his freedom.

Might sound funny, but is in fact a tragic trauma for this character. Because as long as he was bound, he received less beating up by his sadistic masters.
It is a little bit like with Koala as a child. She forced herself to smile all the time and made herself busy with some work, just to avoid to be seen as "useless".
