A sleeply little koala takes a nap at the Australia Zoo. The zoo, famous for its animal encounters, provides the opportunity for visitors to get up close with these wonderful animals, but also provides care for injured koalas at its wildlife hospital. When I visited there were quite a few koalas there being rehabilitated. It's unfortunate so many come into the wildlife hospital as a result of hits by cars, attacks from peoples' pets, disease and habitat loss, but the fortunate thing is that they get world class care when they are rescued. Occasionally, these koalas will be fully rehabilitated and can be released back into the wild.
