The Seal probably recognised she was at risk of falling into the Sunk Cost Fallacy with that Penguin, and figured there's always other fish in the sea...and more of that chemical to allow her to grow bigger!
If she can be Queen of the Seals, she probably has the potential to become Queen of the whole Arctic, if not World!
