A location from a story I'm (still) working on.
Cliffton is a Mountain breed Foxtaur city, nestled within a cavern carved into the side of a mountain: one of the six Mountaineer settlements on the Habitat Ring large enough to be called cities. It has a population measured in the tens of thousands, a bit on the dense side for most Foxtaurs, and is difficult to expand except by burrowing deeper into the mountain. The forests around the city are dotted with little hamlets and villages, home to both Mountaineers and other breeds of Stellar Foxtaur (with the Forest breed being the most common in the area.) A brisk half-day's walk from the base of the mountain lies the entrance to the Starwalker arcology on the Ring's outer surface.

A preference for a down-to-earth, low-tech lifestyle is common among the Foxtaurs of the Habitat Ring (Starwalkers excluded, of course,) but Clifftonians take this further by insisting on (mostly) using only things they can manufacture themselves. (Though this is only enforced by cultural tradition and pride; any individual can always to nip off to the arco and get whatever high tech gadget shi desires.)
