Thanks for posting this. A "Doctor" fellow I used to hang around with up in the Elk Grove area has a hobby of restoring Antique Singer sewing machines, and now I have a better understanding of the parts he's referring to. He's a bit of a "Steam Nut" as well.

He'd probably love my once long-ago steam powered sewing machine (now powered by an 85 yr old electric motor).
Right now it is using 'only' 58 shuttles when I'm stitching right now.
