... Well, when the ghoul advertised to the newly established California Republic in California in 2190, for NCR sniper rifles that were used in their renowned 1st Recon Sniper Battalion. With that, Gerik went all out with making a top-of-the-line rifle, affixed with an Elevation Nob fixed next to the Bolt, allowing the back sights to be adjusted, as well as having a deeply detailed later sight fir windage and long-range sharp shooting, Deep grip slits on the stock for a steady and firm grip as well as a semi pistol grip mixed with a turn down bolt leaving the shooters finger back on the trigger, Holding 6 rounds fed via stripper clip, making reload time a bit longer then a magazine drop feed, a reliable and high end rifle any sharp shooter would want to have in their arsenal.
However, this contract would be cut short in 5 years, with only 1,000 models being produced until the contract was ended in 2195. Costly, Heavy, and requiring a strong arm to use, as well as using out-of-place ammo, made by Goldstone himself, the Standard was replaced by the new contracted Gun Runners production of the NCR's Hunting rifle. Being lighter, using a more common rifled ammo holding more stopping power, as well as a cost where the NCR could buy 2 hunting rifles at a contract discount to 1 Standard rifle made, the Standard was rapidly phased out and sold to the civilian market where it was distributed acrost the wasteland, some models even making it to the commonwealth, all be it very weathered and worn down.
Long since ceased in production, the Goldstone Standard is a prized rifle that collectors seek to have mounted over their fireplace. Very few are found, and unless the wastelander has a luck of 7 or higher, every model found will be in a state of poor repair or completely broken, most often found in a wealthy wastelanders home on a mount or found on a long dead skeleton in the wastes, but the even fewer ranchers or ghoul mercenary sharp shooters wondering the wastes, this is a sturdy and reliable rifle to find.
