In my own take of regression virus I tend to hold it will only regress you so far, like, either to a minimum age of X, or else will only regress you by x years if you don't run out first... While adults who are infected survivors tend to have a form of aggressive maternalism or paternalism that urges them to deliberately infect others, kinda like rabies makes you aggressive and unable to drink anything.

Like aging mother you were caring for develops the virus, making her young and vibrant again, things go fine over the first couple of weeks as she becomes more and more... overt, in inverting the roles back to what she sees as the natural order, then one day you walk in with her standing there with a diaper, chest swollen with infected milk, and her plans clearly written across her face..
