The crew have been winging it on combat until now, so it's time to learn from some experts! They get a crash course in how to think about combat roles, and get some new toys to play with along the way.

Building these sorts of defined hard magic setups is always fun. You have a wondrous world of possibility, but now you get to understand it. Shape it, define it, play with it. I'm a bit of a Bryce in that regards, I suppose.
The gunner/shooter terminology is based on World Trigger, which is a great show if you haven't seen it. Very similar sort of applied magic, people trying to come up with military applications of having dreamforms on the battlefield and projecting power directly. Anime XCOM, but a lighthearted "oh that's so cool" sort of feel to it.
The world continues to be butts. Bank account is in the black again, so maybe the phone can come back on soonish. For now, I write, and I hope you are doing well.
