Donovallo's Alt Form + Lite Backstory
Here's the alternate form of Donovallo Golosear, now upward facing for easier viewing compared to the prior drawing's default design. As with any dealings with higher powers, you just get a sleeker, sultry form, guaranteed. I tease, but my DM and I came up with giving the old lad a separate design after making a deal with a Horned Devil to keep an eye on the family that knighted Donovallo, as having eyes on the inside could help expose them for their illegalize activities. Below is a version of his backstory, since it's fun to write for characters.
----
Some of Donovallo's earliest memories come from resting on his grandma's side as she recounted tales and her studies between her time of being a sailor and settling down after going blind in one of her eyes from a monster attack. Tales of dragons' lairs changing the very world, powerful mages controlling the Weave to their liking, and beguiling bards brining their recounts to actual life excited the hatchling, and his grandmother, Ellthrinrernn, claimed that Donovallo was set to be a great wizard himself. As such, Donovallo received his childhood nickname: Starry Eyed. For most of Donovallo's childhood, he would study alongside his grandmother, while his older sister, Dellivav, would instead follow in their parents' footsteps of being a carpenter and handyman. By the time the two were reaching adulthood, their parents would get locked into building contracts and stuck in Baldur's Gate, and later, their grandmother would pass away. With raised tensions and differing interests, the two siblings had a falling out, and Donovallo was kicked out, using this as another push to study magic.
By seventeen years of age, Donovallo enrolled himself into Strixhaven, a prestige magical school. As soon as he arrived, he put a majority of his efforts into studying all he could, spending a fair amount of his waking hours (and quite a few resting ones) at the school's libraries. Yet, come time for testing, and Donovallo would blank, resulting in him being deemed a failure by the higher mages. This would continue for some time until Donovallo was kicked from there as well.
Not wanting to be pushed down, he then set for the clergy, as the stories of deities and higher beings interested him greatly. Again, he found himself unable to apply the knowledge he gained. This continued with looking into bardic colleges, apprentships under wizards, and looking into wandering covens and circles. Eventually, by his late 20s, he racked up quite the debt and joined a militia to cover his charges so he could once again apply himself. Unfortunately for him, not only did Donovallo find that this unit was not above treating their members as disposable, but also that he was much better with arms than arcana. He'd make a few friends and eventually rise through the ranks, being knighted after his bravery in protecting a unit. By this point however, he became jaded and tired.
This would change one night after being stationed and moving into Waterdeep, meeting Sebastian Starwatcher, an Astral Elf who taught magic through dance. The two would hit it off quite well and would eventually marry.
