Kido Sirha represents the closest equivalent to a general practioner of medicine in my world. Magic exists and magical healing exists, but even then, blanket fix-all cure spells aren't the default. So what is?

Magical healing is expensive in two ways. The first is folded within the general difficulty of anyone learning to cast any kind of spell; not everyone even has a talent for that, and if they do, it must still be taught and cultivated. The second is how much magic gets wasted in an all-purpose cure spell. For example, "cure this specific five-piece compound fracture of this bone and nothing else" takes way less to cast than "cure whatever's wrong with this guy". The latter will do as a last resort, but something more specific like the former is always preferable.

And this is one of Kido Sirha's major strengths. As a Felinis, shi has a very sensitive and discerning sense of smell, and can accurately diagnose most illnesses on sight and scent (a play on how sometimes pets can unerringly tell when you're sick before you even know it). Shi then can either brew something up out of hir traveling kit, recommend a specialist more suited to the patient's needs if it's not an emergency, or fall back on hir cure-all wand if all else fails.
