The Port City of Vita, along the Pearl Coast of Vaswain, is a strategic and economic hub of the eastern realm of the Kingdom of Vaswain. Due to its trade diaspora communities, Vita exhorts a unique subculture with a blend of traditional Vaswaini and foreign cultures, creating a vast cosmopolitan lifestyle. The aristocracy of Vita, mostly macro-anthros, viewed themselves as far above the common people and basked in the wealth and splendor of their business ventures, social parties, and political power they wielded. As a result, Vita viewed and conducted itself differently compared to the rest of the Kingdom and often clashed with royal authority, and often pushed back against the various monarchs due to the influence and power they had. Under Queen Sophen’s rule, Vita was the subject of a new wave of assimilation and economic policies by the Sophen Monarchy to defang the port-city’s aspirations to rule itself. The Queen’s decree abolished meeting halls, enforced martial law, sent in a brigade to occupy the city, forced the resignation of city magistrates, instated royalist aristocrats to rule in place of local officials, and moved to reassert control over an unruly town. Lord Alaric Vita, a desert fox and descendant of Geralde Vita, the founder of the city, quickly hijacked the lower class’s outrage and organized the higher orders of the city to pool their funds to rebel against Queen Sophen. It was now or never. After months of countless planning, Vita erupted into full-scale rebellion, for which the VRS was formed and quickly spread to other cities along the Pearl Coast.
VRS troops consist mostly of human Militiamen of the lower classes, with the more affluent being enlisted within the officer corps, which is evident by the blatant contrast between uniforms. VRS infantrymen use reissued, dyed, and basic Vaswani tunics with mismatched equipment imported from other countries or scrounged from Royalist Depots. The majority of elite brigades and higher ranks are occupied by macro-anthros due to the strict racial caste system they uphold. It’s a macro-world to them, and the more beastly you are, the higher your status.

More lore for the Sophen Saga! [FYI] The VRS features in the "Communications Blackout" and "Spoils of War" works I did, check them out in my gallery.
Thanks for viewing and stay awesome!

Ooh! Interested in this world/setting you've created!
This may be me showing my own tendencies when world building xP but from what I've gathered the macro height of macro-anthros in this setting are their default, everyday height? Essentially the scale which they evolved to, are born as, and spend most of their lives at? If so, I'm picturing this port city of Vita as being this contrasting urban landscape of macro-anthro scale stately homes, upmarket venues and facilities that loom large over the rest of the city in aristocratic districts (also more middle class, mercantile districts) while human structures huddle around the bases of their substantial foundations and retaining walls. Where ever a human is in the city they can spot one of these enormous structures with their extravagant splendour on full display.
An enormous drain pipe jutting from the retaining wall beneath a macro-scale villa atop a hill pouring into a canal that winds through a human/norm-scale district to the sea. The pipe mostly for rainwater, a great deal of it falling upon the expansive tile roof of the villa, but also sudsy grey water from the laundry room, showers, sinks, and occasionally the contents of a mop bucket that had just been used to clean the floors. I imagine local authorities would have placed signs along such drainage canals advising against swimming in or drinking from them.

I never really thought of that. Hot damn, that's cool! I can visually picture that, and it fits the narrative of Vita. Alaric would 100% agree with the city planning and placement of the human districts and the drain pipes. Even more so cause he can flex his superiority since he's a big fan of flashing that wealth and looking down on others. He'd be super happy.
Thank you so much!
Stay Awesome!

Glad Alaric would approve 😝
This sort of stuff, the physical make-up & function of the setting & the like, is something I think about often because I love how it tells so much of the story of the everyday context within which any one scene is happening.
The before and after able to stretch out in both directions from this sliver we get to witness. Similar to drawing worlds maps, being able to trace in your mind the path to and from where a character is and what they're doing as you explore this physical world in your imagination and guess the kinds of things that happened in these places. So when I go back to the scene, I'll often think along the lines of "Oh! Perhaps this ironically juxtaposes with this other thing. At the same time this is happening, this other thing might be happening in this other place. And it seems like this scene is something that could happen with mundane regularity." It compounds the power the scene has for me. 🥴
Based purely on the colours, uniforms, and names my mind conjured images of Vita in this very Mediterranean style of port city. Warm-beige rendered walls and terracotta roofs, climbing up the hillsides that surround the port/bay.
As so:

And I can't forget that scene from the Tin-Tin movie when it comes to the images I had of the drainage canal flowing the villa's drain pipe 🤭

Contrasting with Major Kon of Vaswain, it seems like the aristocracy of Vita have sizeshaping powers based on inherent ability, genetics, or even control over whatever artifacts or substances grant such powers.
I'm enjoying these nation profiles and the historical context you've made for them. Looking forward to seeing more!
