"Photograph of a KAF soldier firing on protestors from a balcony. Two days ago on October 3rd 2016, a protest began on the streets of Kyaitya City. The protest was of the arrest of college student Lexi Hei, who was a well know college student at the cities university: Kyaitya City University. The protest started off as peaceful. With hundreds of college students from the Kyaitya City University grouping in front of the government building at around 7:00 AM. However, the situation dragged on for hours with no response from the government. At around 11:31 AM, the KAF "Red berets" were called in to reinforce the outnumber building security and law enforcement. This caused a very bad look for the government, who had seemingly just brought soldiers to deal with peaceful college student protestors.
This led to more outrage from the crowd. At about 1:24 PM, some of the protestors had became more hostile to the growing militaristic presence. At some point, a fight broke out between an unknown student and some KAF soldiers. At around 1:29 PM, a shot was fired by one of the KAF soldiers. This quickly lead to confusion and panic as many protestors ran and some started to attack. Before anyone knew it, more shots were being fired and it quickly lead to a bloodbath. By 2:03 PM, the shots stopped and the bodies of over 30 students were scattered all over.
The unnamed soldier photographed here was one of many positioned high up to provide overwatch on the crowd. When shots began, many of the high up 'snipers' shot down on the crowd to cover their teammates below. They allegedly mistook there to be many more attackers than there really were.
Details are unclear and scarce at best. But internal and external investigations ore beginning, and more information is to be expected as time goes on.
