Probably should have lead with my own works having Half-Breed as a race of half animal people, before I learned that Half-Breed is technically an offensive term...

We learn from making mistakes like that when writing or showing art like above with some - not so morally correct word choices. Kig-Yar are an example where the pretend species gets a lot of nasty worded flak. :(

What, no. Things are only derogatory if there's something negative attached to them or if they're used to degrade someone. "Beastmen" in my story is a blanket term used to describe anthropomorphic people, and it's not used in a derogatory way. The reason humans are a separate species in my story is because they were driven out by beastmen for being too weak to even be considered part of the primate family.
