One moment. Has One-Eye a pact with Oren to keep the preds out of the woods? Cause that is less a look of desperation for death of more wolves to a murderous bear and more a depserate look for loosing a truce in panel 5. Especially as whenever the subject is even slightly breached to check on the bear he vehemently stopped further discussion on the matter.
Oren and his enclave have been faking evidence that there is a big bear in the woods to scare away any wandering predators including the old wolf and his pack. The old wolf genuinely believes there is a bear there.
