Here, I used Hero Forge to create the god of love, Cupid, and the mortal princess Psyche as hares. Along with the white dove, the hare is also considered a symbol of Cupid/Eros. Therefore, I thought of creating one of the most famous ancient lovers as hares.
The story of Cupid and Psyche does not originate from the Greek original of the Metamorphoses; it is apparently a creation of Apuleius. It is embedded in the depiction of the fate of the girl Charite, who has been kidnapped by a band of robbers. To distract Charite from her suffering, the robbers' old housekeeper tells her the story of the god Cupid and the princess Psyche, whose name is the Greek word for "soul." Lucius, transformed into a donkey, overhears the story.
Cupid and Psyche became a very common subject in the visual arts of both ancient and modern times, and a popular theme in fiction and music.
Among other things, I enjoyed the original story by Apuleius, as well as a comic adaptation by Luc Ferry and Diego Oddi and the great historical-mythological novel "Psyche and Eros" by Luna McNamara.
