Another pirate for Mina's crew. Well... it's not her crew, but I don't have a ref sheet of the captain yet. You know who he is in any event.

Guillermo (or just Guille) is the sort of character we'll be seeing but probably not have much of a chance to get to know. I can tell you what sort of person he seems to me to be, but whether that pays off in any way is doubtful.

Guille is the strong, silent type. Literally—he's built like a brick sh*thouse and he very rarely speaks. He'll pass entire voyages at sea without saying a word. Accordingly many of his shipmates write him off as "dumb muscle": good for physical labor but no fun at parties.

He does, however, have keen ears and a photographic memory. (His other nickname—Memo—is not unearned.) This makes him very useful to... certain individuals who want other certain individuals closely watched without raising their suspicions that the "dumb muscle" is recording things. Of course, getting the data out of him later is a different problem, but you just need to know what buttons to push.

As to what Guille's buttons are... my feeling is that he wasn't always a scalawag (few scalawags are). I sense he originally came from a more elevated background. He was engaged to marry someone of even nobler blood than his. Said sweetheart is deaf, and the two of them always communicated in sign language. It was a perfect match for someone who rarely raised his voice to begin with.

But then something happened (something always does). A dirty secret exposed (maybe something about his parentage), a crime committed in the heat of passion... he felt that his beloved didn't deserve to be stained by marriage to him, not before he searched for a way to clear his name and restore his honor.

A few scars and a missing leg later, he's still searching. He hopes that she's still waiting for him. He'll be home as soon as he completes his errand, however long that takes.

He collects seashells. They remind him of her.
