Sounds like a plan! The quick dry-time for acrylics is a two-sided coin, to be sure. You may need to be more mindful of it so the part you're working on doesn't dry out before your done, but at least it doesn't take AGES like oils. XD
You seem to have a pretty good grasp on that, though. You said it yourself, you'll get better with more experience.
