Here, I used Hero Forge to recreate Rachel and Tobias from K. A. Applegate's Animorphs book series as anthropomorphic animals: Rachel as a massive anthropomorphic elephant (which she uses alongside a grizzly bear as a combat morph) and Tobias as an anthropomorphic red-tailed hawk (the morph he's trapped in, I know, not 100% accurate), just as I would have liked. A happy, unusual couple for a happy ending. I didn't like Rachel's fate at all.
As a boy, I enjoyed reading the Animorphs books (I also watched the TV series), but I didn't like certain developments and the ending at all. My expectations weren't met. The ending left a bitter taste in my mouth. I really resent the author for that.
You want to feel good when you finish a book, watch a movie, or watch a series. The final volume of C. S. Lewis's "The Chronicles of Narnia" already disappointed me (because of Susan Pevensie), as did the ending of the film "Dead Poets Society", the finale of the TV series "Game of Thrones", and the finale of Curtis Jobling's "Wereworld" book series (the basis for the Netflix animated series "Wolf King"), to name a few examples of unsatisfying endings.
