Not pictured: The OTHER nest of Polistes annularis that's right inside the hole. I can't maneuver the camera to get a picture of both of them. They really like this decorative birdhouse. I think this is exclamans? Edit: probably belicosus.

thanks, it was hard as hell to get. The opening is smaller than the lens of the camera and it's dark in there.

those are paper wasps, and they've been there since the beginning of summer. They'll stay there till it gets cold probably.

Don't think it's exclamans. Exclamans has distinct orange tips on the end of their antennae.

Maybe Bellicosus?

That's not a birds nest. That's a chipmunk nest. You can tell because of the long, thin ears.

Yeah... probably should get rid of those guys, wasps/hornets are pretty mean buggers if memory serves.
