Setting his bike to the side and opening the door to the Canopy, Biscuit was greeted to the smells of fresh baked goods and the sounds of the kitchen coming to life. Biscuit said hello to his coworkers doing prep, who greeted him back with waves and hellos as well. He changed into his uniform, dawning his apron, and came in to check what needed to be done. Everyone seemed to be handling the prep well, and being a bit ahead of schedule from his bike ride, Biscuit decided to relax before his shift started. He brewed a cup of his favorite tea, brought his bag and mug with him outside, and sat down at a table, taking out his book on bugs. Sipping his tea and reading about different insects, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, felling the rising sun’s warmth on his back and listening to the gentle rustle of the leaves. Opening his eyes, he looked back down at his book, and found a beetle had joined him on his break.
“Hey there bud!” He watched as it continued its crawl. Biscuit turned to his book and flipped through it, finding the species that looked like the one he sees. “Rhino Beetle… pretty strong!”Carefully sliding from the table to avoid scaring it off, he went inside and returned with a small chunk of apple, setting in front of the beetle. The beetle stopped and took a break to eat.
“Thanks for taking care of the plants.” The beetle finished its food and flew off. Biscuit checked the clock, the hands almost reaching 7. Biscuit sipped the last of his tea, and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. “Okay.” He looked at the sunrise, still climbing higher into the sky. “Let’s do our best to make today a good day.”
