I'm so sorry about the terrible quality of the photo, it was with a camera phone. I found this busy little guy trundling along the end of our driveway and I scooped him up without hesitation. He (or she!) took to me pretty well and so I held onto him for about a half hour. He seemed to enjoy my company because he eventually stopped minding my interactions.
Well I hope this submission helps quell some fears about handling insects; just because they're large doesn't mean they're harmful or predatory :3

Cockroaches are clean, actually. They groom themselves and keep clean with their spotless carapaces. They're only scary to humans because they move so fast and look so unappealing in general human instinct. They are disgusting, yes, because they are scavengers, but did you know foxes eat the exact same things? Garbage, animal carcasses, even insects and spiders. Forgive my rambling, but I simply like to illustrate a different sort of world than the one many have grown accustomed to believe.
I live in a tropical climate, our insects and arachnids can get pretty big. This is the only one of its species I've seen around here though, I was so glad I got to carry it around for a bit<3

I live in coastal Florida, it's about 85 degrees on average right now. Summer has yet to come though...
I'll admit, seeing people freak out over something a hundredth of their size is pretty damn funny. I'm guilty of doing the hornet jig myself since I'm allergic to yellow jackets XD
