A design by my friend Howlhawk on bsky - this is the original version, I've edited it (with their blessing) to make the version of this character I'm currently using.

Some design notes from them:
- the turqoise bits on the belly fans are only visible when theyre extended, can be used as a threat or mating display too
- blue on the undersides of the wings as camoflauge when seen from below (blend with the sky a little)
- diamonds on the dorsal side of the wings to go with the diamondback markings + eye spots if seen from above
- i just thought the skull idea was cool but its definitely a bony protrusion + attached, not an actual skull, but ya the idea was that the eyes would be a little bit recessed to give some sun protection
- thought of desert horned lizards and how they use their scales to gather rainwater too
