This is a big painting! Its pretty much the length of my bed. As usual, its acrylic on canvas and a chimera of different creatures.
In Japanese mythology, a wani is a sort of crocodile-like serpent that is the equivalent of a general sea serpent. A kind of dragon, per say. In common use, however, the word 'wani' just means crocodile, but that the origin of it.
So I made a wani out of a crocodile head, bird wings, goat horns and a snake body. It was all Photoshopped together and then transferred to canvas where it was painted. The image isn't so sharp but the colours are definitely as vibrant as you see here. The red... oh, how I love red.
