Once upon a time a great wolf, a leader of the beasts in the woods, clamped his teeth down on the neck of the spring bard. In the time that followed, the woods grew dark and quiet without the cheerful melodies, and the wolf regreted what he did. So he asked Death to change their places, to revive the bard and himself to be layed on the cold ground. Since then, he follows the bard in the shape of a spirit, and his hide keeps the bard warm
