I found this thick cotton weave placemat at Goodwill, folded about a third of it, sewed along the patterned lines to make pockets, and attached a strap and buckle on the outside to make this travel kit for painting supplies. The tin was bought to use as a mixing tray, but what do you know, my 12-set of gouache tubes fits in there perfectly, so all I need is a water source and I'm ready to take this anywhere c: markers are still my main squeeze but they're not always easy to store and carry around- I am loving how simple gouache is to set up and break down!
sometimes it's nice just to make functional, practical crafts on the cheap. the placemat cost me all of $2.49 and the tin was a dollar. all the other stuff I already had. hello, do you like the squirtle mousepad I've had for 24 years?
