I hate backgrounds..
This wasn't the worst background i've done, but its also far from a good background..
Ok so i've noticed something weird, if you want to learn something weird about me? read on. If not, thank you and carry on with life /3
I need glasses. I have since I was 10 but I only really started to wear them a year ago.
(as a kid I hated a film/boarder in my vision, I already feel detached from people but now life? I hated it.. still do)
Well before glasses I could never see things far away with clarity, even at uni I had to sit at the front or walk to the signs coz I just couldn't see them. (Its where it became noticable and made me think 'maybe I should try glasses again')
But because of my reluctance to wear glasses, I saw the world as detailed foregrounds and blurred backgrounds. Constantly.. and I think that bled into my work.
- This page (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54577416/) is a small example, as the very next page, when the charecters are closer to what was the background, it becomes un blurred.
- My first comic, aqua, is also an example. (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/47157630) page 2 and 3 are perfect examples. I just didn't do the backgrounds, left it as a void, and write how I was unhappy with that in the descriptions...
- Another example but in a different way. (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49129001/) I didn't blur the background, I walked that street everyday so learned it well, but I didn't do the line work of the background. As if its blurred.. idk. Might be a reach here, could just be style. (I was thinking of style then. See me talk about shadow color as if I didn't just learn to use purple in the future... thats what I do. I only use purple for shadows now. :P)
Now none of this is me haveing a go at past me, she did the best she could, and I honestly like this. Its interesting to see how my stubborness to use glasses has lead to me doing blurred/undetailed backgrounds.
However, it has screwed me a bit.
I'm unfamiliar with detailed backgrounds both in drawing and seeing them in real life. So i'm learning from scratch scratch.
