The FBA is full of rivalries. With schedules that pit players against each other again and again and so many competitive personalities in the league, friction is bound to form. But being professionals, they understand the nature of the sport, that these games aren't personal, and that they can hold respect for each other no matter what direction their careers take them.
Except for Buck Hopper (Rabbit, G, STA) and Ryan Malone (Kangaroo, G, DAK).
They just hate each other.
Another phenomenal commission from the incredible
d.chestnut! Seriously, everyone, if she opens up for commissions again, go get a slot. She worked super hard on this and made some late changes for me-- she's just one of the best artists I've ever worked with.

B-Hop usually gets along with his rivals off the court, but Malone has never been shy about smack talking B-Hop, publicly calling him overrated. The 'roo has a big head after collecting 3 rings with the Bikers, 2 of them as Finals MVP. And having arrived just a year before Hopper, there are some who have drawn comparisons between the two guards-- and pointed out the success of Malone over Hopper's failure to win a championship.
And here's a chance for Malone to stop the bunny again.

That is one of the things I just adore about
d.chestnut's art. I was telling her when she first showed this to me-- she makes my FBA characters look like athletes. Looking at Hopper and Malone here, I have absolutely no trouble seeing either of them playing tough, professional basketball. The legs are right, the feet are right, the muscles are right, the build is right-- just perfect. It's absolutely one of the reasons why I like her work so much.

Ooooooooh.
This is one epic picture of epic proportions. That seething rage, the lighting contrast, everything about it just shows RAGE and RIVALRY. Those EYES. My god, they scream anger - and the magazine cover's background, full of black and hazy words that clearly go through the head of anyone that looks at either of them play - heck, even the players themselves - and adding to that it brings about the rush or that flash that you feel before a confrontation - a very well done background just amps and brings out that emotion. You and D.Chesnut have outdone yourselves.
Heck, I think this was the first pic I've ever seen of Ryan Malone. And he certainly looks more awesome than I've imagined. o.o; Very athletic, a physique that also seems to dominate over Hops - and both of them are saltorial species, too. What an epic rivalry this is.

This isn't the first pic of Ryan Malone, actually.
o-kemono was the first to draw him when he drew last year's Finals Victory picture.

That was the reference for this picture. It's kind of cool, though, since Malone's emotions are totally opposite between these two pictures. And you know the kangaroo intends for that earlier picture to happen again.

Holy crap! I just found this, and it's AMAZING!!! The artist did a fantastic job!
I am also wondering how the two willingly posed with each other if they don't get along off the court. Had to be one of those situations where they were thrust (no pun intended) in front of a camera right before one of their games and they held their composure just long enough to be photographed.
I agree about Ryan Malone needing a deeper history. I shall think into that. :)
