I've got somethin' on my mind
I've tried but I can't seem to let it go.
Lately I've been thinkin' bout that little orphan boy whose parents died and left him all alone.

Then an outlaw came one fateful day, while standing at his parents' grave

And now I wonder, is that orphan's story mine?🎵


A commission based on the Broadway musical The Outsiders, which in turn is based on the classic young adult novel by S.E. Hinton.
Living in a gang related neightborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1960s with his two older brothers, the recently orphaned Ponyboy Curtis sings this song comparing his life to the main character of Pip from Charles Dickens' novel Great Expectations. He wonders if his life will take a turn for the better eventually outside of his poverty stricken situation alongside his friends. I got to sing this wonderful song at MFF last year so it's natural that I ask my friend  sea-monster-cupcakes to recreate the scene as presented in the stage show.
