About this art
After the reference sheet for Ezin was finished, I wanted a character sketch that reflected him in my world of the "Midgard Island". ^^
So I asked Drago to draw a sketch for me. He has also drawn the wonderful "Captured Dragon" illustration for me for my "Order and Chaos" story ^^
Here Ezin is standing at the island's cape, outside of Maria's house. It is a lush meadow filled with flowers and fauna. It appears to be a special place on the island, given that a mysterious fog surrounds the cliffs beneath, blanketing the perimeter of the island's cape in clouds. It is said that this "white mist" is connected somehow to the island's voices that ring out at night, but Ezin has yet to discover the truth of it all.
The island's cape is also where Maria and Ezin first discuss their theories about the island, as well as Ezin sharing small bits of information about why he's really here, mingled in with his growing feelings for Maria.

"Ezin - The main character of my new SFW story. He is based on the Ezin character that Simon drew for me quite a few years ago. But, I made a completely original character based on my old idea. This is also where the idea of the "Midgard Island" came from - there will be conflicting lore/facts based on what I wrote in that submission from 2022, but nothing too out there. The new story I will publish will completely overwrite whatever I posted about the "old" 2022 Ezin. Yeah, it's set in the same world as my novel series. (I'm sorry, I really should republish that... "To be honest, now that I think about it, okay, so I'm looking at the 2022 submission of this character.
Let's see...
Honestly, it's a really good character profile that I wrote in the past. It is true that the "lands are treacherous, and it is little more than an island that surrounds the raging sea". Honestly, when I was writing the Midgard Island story - well, firstly, I started writing my new SFW work in October 2024. I wrote a lot more in Feb-March 2025. The story is 60% done. But to be quite honest with you, I never even looked at the old description to check. It is amazing that I already knew exactly how the location looks XD.
But it is a really good profile, so I should try to re-write it, and add it to the new submission."

On the surface, Ezin seems healthy enough.
He is a handsome man and quite the talk of the tavern at the Kingdom of Unchantis.
But beneath his endearing smile and his attractive voice, lies insecurities most painful. The path which led him here - a drink in his hand, and his mercenary friends by his side, has been very treacherous. For as much as he surrounds himself with the tavern's warmth, and the raucous applause and banter of his brothers, he cannot stop the coldness from inside of him encroaching.
It all stems back to his parents.
Their expectations and their burdens were not suitable for Ezin's childlike love of adventure. As a boy, he always dreamed to travel the world with sword in hand and many friends by his side.
But he always travels alone.
Why? Is it by choice, or something more?
Others also cannot help but ask, their smiles fading into an inquisitive tone as they pose the question: "When are you going to settle down?"
This question infuriates Ezin.
He will never settle down.
He was made for this life.
And soon, a new mission will be placed upon him, one which he has been waiting for all his life...

What inspired the creation of the story "The Tale of Midgard Island"
I am writing a new story for my community. This one is about a dragonborn mercenary tasked with investigating an 'evil island' for unknown reasons. But when he arrives there, he meets a woman that he falls in love with.
I have been writing such stories for two years, but for this one, the quality really surprised me, so I decided to go all out.
A "VN style story" is a story which I write which is read with animated text, illustrations, sounds and music which conveys the emotion directly to the reader.
