Though Edward never asked for it, Kiyoshi wanted to attempt a fusion spell—a more powerful incantation he could cast without becoming exhausted. He believed that practicing advanced spells would strengthen his magical abilities. This would allow him to cast the werelion spell on Edward without tiring, helping his friend more effectively in battle. One night, Kiyoshi decided to try the fusion on Edward, who reluctantly agreed while warning that it could be dangerous if either personality dominated the other.

“But that only happens if the caster intentionally forces it upon you. Besides, what’s the worse that could happen?”

Without hesitation, the Kitsune cast the spell, transforming himself into pure energy before merging with Edward. After a brief moment of silence, Edward began transforming into a fox. Due to Kiyoshi's inexperience with the spell, he had accidentally channeled too much power into it. Edward felt his friend's presence slowly taking over as the transformation progressed, affecting both body and mind. Panicking, Kiyoshi frantically tried to slow the process to prevent Edward's personality from being completely overwhelmed.

When the spell finally finished its work, Kiyoshi called out to Edward within their combined subconscious, fearing he had lost his friend. To his relief, Edward was still present—though only mentally. The spell had been so powerful that Kiyoshi now had full control of Edward's new kitsune body, much to Ed’s annoyance. It was a minor setback for both of them. Since the spell would wear off by morning, Edward agreed to let Kiyoshi use their combined form to explore the extent of their dormant powers.

"Maybe next time I'll be the dominant personality after that stunt, Kit!"
