This past Saturday, I attended a little furry meetup picnic at the Boston Common, and I brought my Canon Vixia HV30 MiniDV camcorder to shoot some footage for my vlog showing off editing video on my 20-year-old eMac desktop on my YouTube channel! This video camcorder is capable of shooting HDV, but for this I set it to standard DV to make the editing on my eMac easier, along with an external microphone attachment (Canon DM-50) so I could get better-quality sound than the camcorder's onboard mic that would pick up the slight whirring of the tape head motor, and it's also got manual focus!
