As a long standing history amongst the Sith, the apprentice will always attempt to overthrow the master to become the new best Sith lord. It would appear Xaru had been reading up on this (somehow since he doesn't have eyes!) and got a lightsaber somewhere. Now he's challenging Zyas! Unfortunately a lightsaber isn't strong enough to harm either of them so they may as well be whacking each other with pool noodles. Oh well.
