The lesson here is, ‘do not dismiss something because it is old.’ He’ll, just don’t be dismissive in general. It harms more than saying, not my thing. Since she was dismissive about it, I’m somewhat on Diamond’s side. She could still have been nicer about it, but Izzy set the tone with her own comment.
I don't think that's the lesson. People are allowed to have opinions. Diamond overreacted poorly. I can't take Diamond's side when Izzy didn't opine with malice. Diamond went out of her way to be hurtful and nasty without a good reason. You can love something as much as you want, but that doesn't give you the right to attack someone, physically or verbally, just because they don't share your opinion. That's the lesson here.
I find it odd that so many here are practically applauding Diamond's behavior just because Izzy said those games are ancient and expressed disinterest. Is it a crime for someone to not be interested in retro games? Too many are quick to take an opinion on something as a personal attack.

It wasn’t written in a mean way at all? It’s just a small showcase of how their personalities are. Diamond is super into her retro titles and Izzy isn’t as versed in them - it’s not like there’s some huge deep moral here dude. Some people are just super into their hobbies and can be a little gatekeepey when it’s close to their heart.
Just keep in mind these are fictional characters, it’s a comic, it’s meant to be kinda goofy and cute; not some big expose on gamer culture.

Calling them out as fictional characters makes it worse that people are applauding Diamond's behavior. Apparently, the way she reacted so negatively is perfectly fine just because she's fictional. She verbally assaulted someone because she didn't like someone's opinion about her "hobby." You can't defend that kind of behavior without looking like an ass.
I think you need to log off if you’re looking at this comic and taking it so seriously, it isn’t that deep. No one is defending that behavior or applauding it, they’re doing the normal sane thing and just being amused by the characters antics. Sometimes, gasp, there’s not nice things in fiction - enjoying it doesn’t mean the people share the same feelings.

I didn’t say Diamonds was in the right. I am simply agreeing with her they the games in question are not to be dismissed. The way Izzy talked was rude and dismissive. Diamond should not have overreacted as she had either. Neither are in the right by how they reacted. Diamond is more in the wrong, but I’ve had people be dismissive of my opinions so often they it starts to feel like they are being dismissive of me. That can bottle up and bring forth a rage over time.

Except Izzy wasn't too charitable in her own right. When Di brought up the game library she was listing off, Izzy dismissed them as "ancient", which is often used as a disparagement. And Di, like any other fan of media, reacted the way MOST would(even me sometimes). As Skigress pointed out, Izzy could have worded her response better.

And because she reacted the way most would makes it right? I don't think so. It's pretty immature to explode on someone for their opinion. The difference here is that Izzy wasn't trying to be mean despite her seemingly rude remark. But Diamond blew it way out of proportion. Diamond explodes on anyone that shows any semblance of disdain on her favorite classic retro games and consoles. She's no different than a toddler throwing a tantrum in that regard
Ironically, the one time she did make fun of her Sega adoration, it gave Diamond her stagename!

I own physicals of all 3 of the American releases, including the most recent 3DS one. I even stream the rom version of the PS2 from time to time on discord, though most people are confused and amazed at the game and cannot wrap their heads around it. Xb

Hehehe, Diamond should try the first one. It DID release in Japan on the Sega Saturn, one of her systems after all.
As for you, I'd suggest the first one, but the 3DS one is the easiest to play. A little too easy. The game has a option at the press of a button to automatically do the optimal (in the comp's opinion) choice for every decision, so you can literally just make the game play itself for you if you want. A bit too baby-town-frolics for my tastes so I never use that stupid option.
