This is Silvia and Sonya's mom, Marcella Sheba Mortar.
Marcella was a musician and Broadway actress. She was considered a catch for various guys who were fans of her. Everyone wanted to marry Marcella due to her beauty and intelligence.
I'll skip the love triangle and a few other occupation Marcella has done in the past.
She married Frank while they were dating for three years outside of them performing on stage. Their marriage may not have been as perfect as they thought it was, but overall, they've always loved each other very much.
A year after Silvia fought cancer, she died from homicide. Nobody knew who killed Marcella, at first the FBI thought it was Frank. They were about to file a divorce but dropped it because they would have to fight like hell to win full custody of their children. However, Frank was found not guilty since the evidence did not match Frank's description. The case went cold and unsolvable.
