These people (which I'll continue to refer to as space orcs here for clarity) were a bronze-age civilization with various expected bronze-age social ideals and beliefs about things, such as a fixation on glory in battle, the importance of honor, and the like. Unknown to any of them at the time, an unscrupulous star nation which was losing a war decided to disregard protocols and reveal themselves to these space orcs, intending to use them as soldiers. That nation, however, lost the war anyway and was sanctioned into the dirt for interfering with pre-spacefaring peoples, but the damage had been done, and now these orcs were spacefaring in their own way. They mostly find employment doing gruntwork however, as their society was still largely regarded (subconsciously or otherwise) as being "immature" by most other civilizations who had "earned" their place amongst the stars.
